Advertising Standards Authority

The ASA look at every advert from television to the internet in order to make shore that nobody is offended by what they are hearing or seeing. Many adverts such as those on alcohol are only shown after 9pm so that children and those who don't watch late night TV aren't offended.

Furthermore the ASA also allows viewers of adverts to complain to them if they are offended by any advert.

Also the ASA has banned adverts on smoking. This is because smoking is unhealthy etc and therefore should not be advertised on television. Alcohol advertisement is also banned until 9pm so that underage drinking is not promoted.
